“The night before my ablation they told me they were going to purify me and I remember that I was very happy. We traveled to my grandmother’s house, on the border of Kenya and Somalia, and I could hardly sleep the night before, it was as if the Kings came. The next day, early, my mother bathed me and sent me to buy two blades. When I returned home, my grandmother was already prepared and they had made a hole in the ground for blood. My mother took off my underwear and there I got a little nervous but still did not know what to expect. Then my grandmother grabbed me and put her legs to fully open mine. She also held my hands; she was completely immobilized. I panicked and started screaming. That is when they picked up a rag and covered my mouth. I couldn’t scream anymore; a Somali woman can’t cry. “
“There was no sanitary measure there, they didn’t even use gloves … absolutely nothing” -he continues- “the lady took out the blades and started cutting. At that moment you only feel the pain, but it marks you for life. The wound heals but you do not heal. You permanently have psychological problems. ” Her childhood ended that day, the healing was long and painful, but the aftermath haunted her all her life. Asha is still embarrassed to go to the gynecologist and will never be able to have full sex. That possibility was stolen from him. They told him that in this way he would achieve purity. She knows that the objective is none other than “to annul the woman”.

“My dad touches me the tete”. José Antonio does not forget that phrase of his daughter. The girl told him in the middle of a therapy with psychologists from EICAS, a non-governmental association in charge of evaluating the existence of sexual abuse of minors. Nor does she forget the rest of the dialogue between the evaluator and her daughter: “Has anyone told you to tell me about the tete?” They ask the girl. “Yes, my mother,” he replies. “What did he tell you?” Insists the therapist. “That will take me to the fair,” ditch the minor.
José Antonio has a closet full of gifts. One for each birthday, each saint, each day of Kings that has not been able to see their children. Five years ago her ex-partner began a campaign of harassment and demolition that almost cost her her life after an attempted suicide.
After denouncing him in a little more than two years for various crimes among which are harassment, abuse and sexual abuse, of which he was acquitted except one, a swipe, which is appealed in amparo before the Constitutional Court; He got a pediatrician to warn about sexual abuse towards his children. Now justice has shown that everything was a farce, but still has not his children, taken away by his mother since the acquittal was issued.

Estaba aturdido. Todo lo que me rodeaba era nuevo. Me sentía perdido y tremendamente solo”.

He spent three months in a shelter in Ceuta. There was a lawsuit against the porters. He had to declare. He asked for political asylum. They denied it. He told his story to the listener and listened to the stories of his classmates. Every time someone in the center asked someone where they wanted to go, a single chorus of voices sounded: “pe-nin-su-la!”.”At the time of leaving they asked me where I wanted to go. I thought that in Navarre, which is so far north, they would speak French and they sent me there. They gave me a ticket and a paper stating that I had a residence permit for 6 months and I promised to return to Cameroon later. When I got off the bus I did not know what to do. I stayed last to see which direction the others took. I was stunned. Everything around me was new. I felt lost and tremendously lonely. “
Europe, the peninsula, paradise, was not as idyllic as I thought. He found adventure companions who helped him in his early days. He went from hostel to hostel and from friends ‘house to friends’ house. Nobody spoke French in Navarra. Not in Tafalla, or in other places he visited. And all those who received him explained that life there was very hard.

I did not see him again. ” She did not know about it, but her boyfriend was married and had children. Her family did not help her and Benedicta, about to become a single mother in the Spain of the sixties, decided to go to Bilbao. “I went there as I could have gone somewhere else. I just wanted to go to a big city where nobody knew me. ” In the birthplace of Bilbao the nuns told her that she could leave her daughter there while she was working and go see her whenever she wanted. “But they started to give me a long time, to tell me one day that I was asleep, another one that was sick … and I went home crying without seeing her. The day I was wearing a little medallion and earrings, Sr. Bernardina told me not to come back, that my daughter was with a family and that I forgot her. I never thought that the nuns could do those things. ”
Benedicta hired a lawyer to file a complaint and find a detective to locate her child. “But the nuns paid the lawyer and the lawyer to the detective, who told me that my daughter was very well with another family and did not look for her anymore” .

Article 1of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. Wood an iron, cm 17*14*26h. 2017.
He swam for recreation but for survival. It was on the high seas, halfway between the Paraguaná peninsula, Venezuela, and the island of Curacao, in the middle of a spill of spilled gasoline that made the sun’s reflection brighter. Petrol pipes, life jackets and some other things that don’t sink floated around him. Next to her, clinging to the floating pipes was half of her companions who knew how to swim. Everyone, shivering with cold and fear of becoming a shark breakfast.
He was part of a group of Colombian citizens who, in search of a better future, decided to enter the Caribbean island illegally to work and return time later with sufficient savings to live better in Colombia. With the best passport of all, the money, they were able to cross the border and reach La Vela de Coro, a coastal town on the Paraguaná Peninsula. There they made contact with a network of traffickers of people who for one thousand dollars each would take them by boat to Curacao. As it was an illegal operation, you had to sail at night to arrive at dawn and not be detected by the Coast Guard.
At approximately three o’clock in the afternoon of the day after the departure a small fishing boat approached a certain distance but they did not pick up anyone for fear that all shipwrecked people, due to the panic of drowning, would like to board the boat and Overweight would sink it. They promised to notify the national guard.
At five in the afternoon, the fear of a certain death in the Caribbean Sea dissipated when the group saw a national guard rescue helicopter approaching. All were rescued and taken to a hospital on land. The next day they were transferred to a prison and, after humiliation for being undocumented, were deported to Colombia by the Paraguachón border post in La Guajira.
He went in search of a better future and returned to the starting point with traces of the tragedy on his body. Salt water, spilled gasoline and the impact of the sun caused great spots on arms and hips.
It is very uncertain, insecure and even tragic the fate of people who are venturing to travel undocumented to other countries to seek a better future. They are generally victims of networks of traffickers, corrupt officials and on the trip they suffer all kinds of hardships and humiliations. What at one time is the dream of a better future ends up becoming the certainty of a reality worse than the one they lived in Colombia.

Kurdish woman: Islamic State militias believe that if they die in combat at the hands of a woman, their souls will burn in hell, contrary to what would happen if they fall at the hands of a man. Considering this, the Kurds, who fight in their region against the advance of the IS (also known as ISIS), formed a female battalion to torment them and make them retreat. There, women fight for their freedom on all fronts: both in war, and in Kurdish society.

Isolates you, eliminates you as a person. He despises you so much … It always makes you feel guilty about what happens. I had to apologize when he hit me because he said I was misbehaving and had to hit. The children feel it and live in that environment of violence and then transmit it. That is why it is important not to put up with children, but the other way around. First you have to do it for you and then for the children to live in an atmosphere of harmony and equality. He told me more than once that we would never separate. He said that ours is love or death. I ran out of his side crying and fate wanted me to see a sign that said ‘Let’s break the silence’ and next to a phone. That night at dawn I called and I had the strength to leave my house with my children and start a new life.

La contaminación del agua, por ejemplo con desechos de instalaciones de propiedad del Estado (derecho a la salud);
El hecho de que no se garantice un salario mínimo suficiente para llevar una vida digna (derecho al trabajo);
El hecho de no evitar el hambre en todas las zonas y comunidades del país (derecho a la protección contra el hambre);
La denegación de acceso a la información o los servicios relacionados con la salud sexual y reproductiva (derecho a la salud);
La segregación sistemática de los niños con discapacidad de las escuelas generales (derecho a la educación);
El hecho de no impedir que los empleadores lleven a cabo discriminaciones en la contratación (por razones de sexo, discapacidad, raza, opinión política, origen social, situación en cuanto al VIH, etc.) (derecho al trabajo);

El hecho de no garantizar una licencia de maternidad a las mujeres trabajadoras (protección de la familia y asistencia a ésta);

Wood an iron, cm 35*30*44h. 2017.
A violation of economic, social and cultural rights takes place when a State fails to fulfill its obligations to guarantee that such rights are enjoyed without discrimination or its obligation to respect, protect and fulfill them. Some examples of violations of economic, social and cultural rights include:
The forced eviction of people from their homes (right to adequate housing);
Water pollution, for example with waste from state-owned facilities (right to health);
The fact that a minimum wage is not guaranteed enough to lead a decent life (right to work);
Failure to avoid hunger in all areas and communities of the country (right to protection against hunger);
The denial of access to information or services related to sexual and reproductive health (right to health);
The systematic segregation of children with disabilities from general schools (right to education);
The fact of not preventing employers from carrying out discriminations in hiring (for reasons of sex, disability, race, political opinion, social origin, situation regarding HIV, etc.) (right to work);

It all started when the owner of the bar approached one of the monitors to warn him that one of the kids was “bothering” the rest of the customers and workers of the store. It was precisely the son of this affected father. “My son does not speak and manifests his joy laughing, hugging others and, sometimes, shrieks even though he did not shout Saturday,” he assured. I’ll get to where I have to go, “said Carlos,” parents who have a child with disabilities know how special they are for us. ” Those affected insisted that this is the first time something similar happens to them, since “our children are very well-known in Dos Hermanas”.

She is 23 years old and works in front of the public with her veil. She says that most of her clients are surprised to see her in Islamic attire and speaking a perfect Castilian. “Before questioning me how I got the job, I find it hard to accept that I am Spanish and Muslim. Clearly they are two contradictory points that have nothing to do “, ironically. ¨You can belong to any religion regardless of your nationality¨. “In summer a man came into the store without the intention of buying, he started to approach me in a hostile way. At first I did not understand where I wanted to go, but finally he started insulting me and threatening me by implying that my veil and I were the problem in this society. He shouted to me that the women we wore were sexually satisfying because we were morbid when we went so covered and that was one of the main reasons why we should be raped. In my life I have felt so humiliated and hurt as at that moment, given that this man, did not stop making references to my beliefs, and alluded to my parents the guilt that I was born in this country and continue practicing “a culture” that is not Spanish, to which I made him understand that culture was not the same as religion, but he said goodbye to me under another shower of insults “.

A little less than a month ago, I left having taken some canes with some friends in a bar in the center of Madrid when we saw some local police officers approaching a group of kids who were sitting on the floor of a park surrounded by bags. Green plastic, alcohol bottles and mix. Come on, they were bottle.
I went near them and I could hear a girl espetaba one of the policemen that she was not drinking alcohol and could not put the fine, but the officer asked him to surrender the DNI.

– Romero has put your board. To accompany these gentlemen. I was doing military service and the lieutenant’s words in my unit sounded like a blow to my ears. The winter of 1969 had not yet ended and Franco’s government had decreed a state of emergency throughout Spain. The “gentlemen” were two inspectors of the social policy brigade who transferred me to the La Gavídia police station. A militant socialist clandestine youth organization, I was admitted for the first time to a military prison, expelled after the army and transferred to the prison in Seville.

Erich Fromm. TENER Y SER.
The need to create awareness that people are more than living organisms, are human beings and connect with them means to enter to feel their life, to interact with their resilience and create introspection.
When you look at a tree, you are aware of the tree. When you have a thought or feeling, you are aware of that thought or feeling. When you have a pleasurable or painful experience, you are aware of that experience. These seem to be true and obvious statements. Yet if you look at them very closely, you will find that in a subtle way their very structure contains a fundamental illusion, an illusion which is unavoidable when you use language. Thought and language create an apparent duality and a separate person where there is none. The truth is you are not somebody who is aware of the tree, the thought, feeling or experience. You are the awareness or consciousness in and by which those things appear.
Eckhart Tolle on life, as quoted in, Stillness Speaks
The mode of being has as its prerequisites independence, freedom, and the presence of critical reason. Its fundamental characteristic is that of being active, not in the sense of outward activity, of busyness, but of inner activity, the productive use of our human powers. To be active means to give expression to one’s faculties, talents, to the wealth of human gifts with which—though in varying degrees—every human being is endowed. It means to renew oneself, to grow, to flow out, to love, to transcend the prison of one’s isolated ego, to be interested, to “list,” to give. Yet none of these experiences can be fully expressed in words. The words are vessels that are filled with experience that overflows the vessels. The words point to an experience; they are not the experience. The moment that I express what I experience exclusively in thought and words, the experience has gone: it has dried up, is dead, a mere thought. Hence being is indescribable in words and is communicable only by sharing my experience. To be” requires giving up one’s egocentricity and selfishness, or in words often used by the mystics, by making oneself “empty” and “poor.”
